Mayday Falls

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

  • Type: Thrill Ride
Height: Any Height
Experience: Mild but Wild Rides

Mayday Falls is a wild, inner tube ride for big kids, teens and adults at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Brave the rapids for a fast, turbulent trip down Mount Mayday that begins in the shadow of the iconic stranded shrimp boat, "Miss Tilly." Big kids, teens and adults, grab your single-rider inner tube and careen down this swervy, curvy waterslide through caves and waterfalls. Mayday Falls is the longest waterslide in Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and the highest and most intense waterslide of the 3 Falls raft rides. Hang on 'cause this one's a rush!

This 460-foot slide in bright yellow inner tubes is the longest and bumpiest of the three falls. It's a long trek up to Mayday Falls, even higher than Keelhaul, but the increased speed and longer descent are well worth the climb. It's a relatively straight slide over the falls into a catchment, but it's not as thrilling as the up-and-down water jets on the Crush n' Gusher.

Touring Tips

  • Mayday Falls is located near the Gang Plank Falls attraction and the Keelhaul Falls attraction on the slopes of Mount Mayday.
  • Of all the other tube flume attractions (Gang Plank Falls and Keelhaul Falls), this one is the wildest and most intense.
  • Ride this one pretty early in the day, but probably not first. Of course, wait times for this attraction will get longer as the day progresses.
  • Any time of year that the park is open is a good time to visit, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. There are two better times to arrive, shortly before the park opens, and in the warmer months when the park is open at night, its best to get there mid to late afternoon. If you want to go for the morning/early afternoon, it is essential to arrive by park opening time, particularly in the warmer months.
  • Weekdays, the nearer to the beginning of the week the better. Later in the week, Typhoon Lagoon attracts the people who typically spend the beginning of the week at the major parks. Local residents tend to keep things busy on the weekends.

Facts

  • Highly trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty over the course of the day patrolling the Water Park. All Disney lifeguards must complete a thorough training program that exceeds most national standards.
