The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Adventureland, Magic Kingdom Park

  • Land: Adventureland
  • Type: Thrill Ride
Where: Adventureland
Height: Any Height
Experience: Fun For Everyone, Outdoor
Duration: 1 minute, 30 seconds

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a fanciful flight for all ages aboard a flying carpet in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom theme park.

Soar around a giant genie bottle on your very own magic carpet! This exotic adventure is geared toward younger kids who love to make their carpet go up and down, or pitch forward and back. Be sure to watch out for the camel facing the ride who occasionally spits water at the carpets passing by. But don't worry. It's very unlikely you'll get even a little wet.

Each flying carpet vehicle accommodates a total of 4 people with 2 in the front seat and 2 in the back seat. Sit in the front seat to control the height of your flying carpet. Sit in the back seat if you want to control the forward and back pitch.

It is based on the 1992 film, Aladdin. It is similar to the ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant, in that riders in the front rows control how high their carpets fly, and the ride lasts about 90 seconds. There is Aladdin's magic lamp at the top, rather than Timothy Mouse. At the entrance, there is a camel that squirts people as they walk by, much like the Stitch figurine outside World of Disney shop, also in Walt Disney World. Guests who have visited Adventureland before may notice that this land has a new special look. The different shops look like the marketplace buildings from Disney's Aladdin. Different characters from Aladdin are in some of the buildings to do meet & greets and sign autographs.

Touring Tips

  • The vehicles are rider-controlled and you can fly your magic carpet up, down or pitch forward or backward. The riders in the front seat control the up and down motion, while the back seat controls the pitch of the carpet from front to back.
  • Each seat can hold 2 adults and probably a small child, or one child and one adult.
  • Princess Jasmine and Aladdin are sometimes nearby this attraction, so keep an eye out as you soar above Agrabah on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
  • Adventureland isn't known for 'wide open spaces' and this attraction makes the congestion worse.
  • Be careful as you walk by. The camel has been known to spit water!

Facts

  • Opened May 24, 2001.
  • The centerpiece is a giant Genie's bottle adorned with characters from "Aladdin," Disney's 1992 animated film.
  • First permanent attraction with Aladdin theming at Walt Disney World Resort.

Hidden Mickeys

  • Be on the look out for Aladdin's jewels in the cement. As you enter the queue area about five feet in look down you will see a Mickey in the sidewalk. On the path around Aladdins flying carpet, behind the large spitting camel, next to the shops, there is what looks to be a 5 stoned bracelet embedded in the cement. On each 'stone', there is a hidden mickey.
  • On the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, the remaining Hidden Mickey is very hard to see. As you enter the ride envelope, turn left and walk toward the control console building. Between the two Carpets that are closest to the console, there is a small maintanance bridge that leads to the hub of the ride. From this bridge, go clockwise one or two carpets and board that carpet. Look at the wooden floor of the hub island and you'll see a 2 or 3 inch Mickey embossed into the wood grain. It's the classic 3-circle Mickey, not the profile Mickey.
